July - Shark Month

(in honor of shark week 7/6-7/13)

Shark Week

  • When: TBD

  • Where: PSD dive shop or Zoom

  • Grab your popcorn and join us for an evening of sharks on the big screen! We'll be watching clips from classic shark documentaries (and maybe some campy Shark Week favorites), then diving into a myth-busting session where we separate fact from fiction. Are sharks really bloodthirsty killers? Do they mistake surfers for seals? How many shark species actually live in Monterey Bay? We'll cover it all.

  • Bring your own shark encounter stories to share, your burning questions, and an open mind. This event is perfect for divers, non-divers, and anyone who's ever been curious (or terrified) about what's swimming beneath the surface. Snacks and drinks provided!

Monastery Dive - Check Gear Before Channel Islands

  • When: TBD

  • Where: Monastery Beach, Carmel

  • Monastery Beach is one of Monterey County's most iconic dive sites — dramatic walls, vibrant marine life, and the kind of underwater topography that makes every dive feel like an adventure. And hey, it's Shark Month, so we're officially on the lookout for sevengills, leopard sharks, and any other elasmobranchs that might be cruising by (though let's be honest, the real stars here are probably going to be the rockfish, nudibranchs, and kelp forests). Whether or not we spot a shark, you're guaranteed to see incredible marine life and explore one of the best shore dive sites on the Central Coast. Advanced certification required — just be comfortable with surf entries and a bit of a swim!
